Although there was still ice on the lake, it was shirt sleeves weather on
Saturday afternoon when I checked out the Little Patuxent Oxbow Lake
Nature Preserve. Here's what I saw/heard at the lake and behind my house in
Russett:

Trumpeter Swan #960
Canada Geese (a flock of about 50 flew in)
Mallards (~18)
Bald Eagle (imm)
Red-shouldered Hawks (3)
Ring-billed Gulls (~30)
Belted Kingfisher
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
Pileated Woodpecker
Blue Jays
Tufted Titmouse
White-breasted Nuthatch
Carolina Wrens
Winter Wren
American Robins
Northern Cardinals
Red-winged Blackbirds

Beaver (poking his/her nose up through the holes broken in the frozen lake!)
