I am seeking information about locations in Maryland that have populations
of breeding Brown-headed Nuthatches. I am working on a range-wide study of
genetic variation in this species, and I would like to find somewhere in
Maryland where I can capture Brown-headed Nuthatches and draw blood from
them (note that all birds are released unharmed!). I would like to collect
blood from nestlings as well as adults, so the ideal location would be a
spot where this species regularly nests in at least moderate abundance.

If you know of locations that might be suitable, and are willing to share
details, or if you know of any other ongoing research projects on breeding
populations of Brown-headed Nuthatches in Maryland, I would greatly
appreciate hearing from you. You can reply to me off list at the email
address above.

Thanks!

John
