Forwarded this to MDOsprey for Jim Green:

"Also, if you do not mind I have an OSPREY posting for you. I braved the
elements this morning and met Gemma Radko on the RT. 121 causeway over
Little Seneca Lake (Black Hills Regional Park) at 8 AM. We had a great hour
of birding. We stood on the causeway with the sun at our backs and scanned
the western side of the lake. A scope was needed as the majority of the
birds were quite a distance out in the lake. Usual suspects included ruddy
ducks, buffleheads, ring-necked ducks and good numbers of common Mergansers.
We observed an adult bald eagle diligently feeding on a large carcass
(possibly a deer?) at a frozen edge of the lake. An immature eagle sat on
the ice approx. 50 feet away awaiting his turn.

There were also canvasbacks about 50), Hooded mergansers (8-10), several
pied-billed grebes, 40 tundra swans (among the Canada geese on the frozen
edges of the lake). Gemma was the first to spot our two best birds: a
beautiful long-tailed duck and a red-necked grebe. We discussed the
possibility of whether another explosion of red-necked grebes could be on
its way." -- Jim Green
