While ogling the extent of ice on the Potomac on the commute home
yesterday afternoon I was surprised by a group of four Bald Eagles
playing chase about a mile northwest of Roosevelt Island. I wasn't able
to get the clearest of looks what with driving and peering through the
caked road salt on the windshield, but it appeared that at least 2 of
the birds where adults. I could not tell if this was a territorial
dispute, an argument over frozen fish from the river or just some winter
sport, but it was fun to see.
