While conducting a weekly count at Lower Kingman Island (portion of the
Kingman island south of the Benning Road Bridge) on the morning of February
16, 2007, I sighted an Orange-crowned warbler actively foraging in
shrub-scrub habitat.
Other notable sightings at the same site were:
1) a pair of Bald Eagles cruising over the Anacostia river channel west of
the island.
2) a chanting Red-shouldered Hawk with a pair of Corvus sp. in attendance.
