2 weeks ago I had a sparrow that immediately got my attention among 50 plus
other sparrows. It was among Chippings, Songs, and White-crowns. It seemed
to hang out more with the White-crowns.

I told my friend Tom that I was birding with at the time, I think that this
might be a Clay-colored. We studied it for some time and just sort of left
it at that. We had good looks at it but It sort of became a dead issue.
After I studied the photos more and showed them to some other birders I have
come to the conclusion that this is a Clay-colored.

The bird was viewable from the road at the time. It was on the left hand
side almost all the way down at the end of Pond Neck Road out side of
Earlville. There is a Blue Cape Cod that has a front yard from heaven. He
wont mow it and says its for the birds. It has nice trails mowed thru it
thou. But caution. This is private property and he has 2 Doberman Pinchers
that are protective when out. Do not trespass on this property. Birding on
the road should be fine. The bird was in the briar near the Leyland Cypress
hedge.

I do have a series of photos if people are interested in seeing them.
