The day was torrid, even w/short sleeves. Unfortunately, the birding was not. Time spent
searching for the LE Owl, 1000-1200 amounted to a moderately difficult but enjoyable walk.
Avoiding horse divots and droppings, plus muddy, wet spots made for some dicey perambu-
lating at times. No joy on the LEOW. Not much bird activity--might've added a few more if I'd
remembered my "birder's ears":
T Vulture
RS HAWK (heard)
M Dove
RB Woodpecker (heard)
PILEATED WOODPECKER (heard)
TREE SWALLOW
Jay (heard)
A Crow
F Crow (heard)
Titmouse
E BLUEBIRD
N Cardinal
HOUSE FINCH--pair photo'd carrying nesting material to a small Juniper
Song Sparrow
WT Sparrow
note: lots of sparrows, but gave only quick glimpses diving cover-to-cover; no time to
             "wait 'em out".
