Weinberg Park: 3/13/07: Waterfowl and Phoebe

Hello all.

Found a few notable species at Weinberg Park and its surrounding areas this 
evening:

Waterfowl highlights:

Green-winged Teal: 2  Weinberg pond
Lesser Scaup: 90+  Rock Creek
Greater Scaup: 12 Weinberg cove
Canvasback: 210 (plus 950 at Venice Pond across the street)
Ring-necked Duck: c. 20  Weinberg cove
Hooded Merganser: 3  Weinberg pond
Red-breasted Merganser: 7  Weinberg cove
Wood Duck: 3 flyover, toward the cove

Also:

Double-crested Cormorant: 65 on 'White Rocks'
Herring Gull: 15+
Belted Kingfisher: 1 male
Eastern Phoebe: 1  perched in the overlook at the end of the main trail
Fox Sparrow: 1  Just past the main trail entrance


Also, I have heard/seen several flocks of Tundra Swans flying over Northern 
Anne Arundel County over the last week.
