Spring is certainly springing on the farm! Thousands (or so it seems) of
peepers are calling wildly behind Kingfisher pond from their wooded, wetland
pools right now; encouraging me to keep the bluegrass turned down low so the
chorus across the street can join in. I heard an eastern phoebe on Sunday
last and again today, as well as one on River Rd in Marshal Hall (Charles
Co.) this afternoon. And I almost cheered out loud yesterday at a close
encounter with my foy sighting of an osprey on the farm's shoreline. He/She
was hanging out above a nesting platform that hasn't been used in a couple
of years; it's a quiet spot so I'm hopeful. And of course it was HOT today!
Looks like Old Man Winter has run his course (mostly?) and things will be
getting green again soon.

Good birding all,

Chris Ordiway
