A very muddy walk, primarily seeking the pipits reported yesterday--no joy. Very warm,
w/temps up to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Signs of spring abounded: most birds and Wood
Frogs singing, Red Maples in bloom and the first, tentative blades of Spring Beauty
making an appearance. Highlights: Green-winged Teal, PB Grebe, Merlin, Bluebirds and
a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker doing a flycatcher's dance high up in the trees. The list:
PB Grebe--a pair
GB Heron--5
Canada Goose--5
Mallard--7
Gadwall--probable; quick, longish glimpse thru trees in poor light
GREEN-WINGED TEAL--13, a rarity here, esp. this many
WOOD DUCK--5
T Vulture--1
RT Hawk--1
RS Hawk--1
MERLIN--2 One on it favorite perch & another in rapid flight overhead
Mourning Dove--3
PILEATED W'PKR--1
RB W'pkr--4
YB SAPSUCKER--launch off perch, a short fluttery loop and back to the perch
B Jay--3
A Crow--2
F Crow--1
C C'dee--4
T Tit--6
WB Nuthatch--3
C Wren--5
N Mock'bird--1
A Robin--10, flight of 7 ov'hd
E BLUEBIRD--a pair
E Starling--9
MYRTLE WARBLER--possible; high in tree, bad viewing
RW Blackbird--6
N Cardinal--12
A Goldfinch--1
DE Junco--3
WT Sparrow--2
Song Sparrow--10

A quick check for spring Morel mushrooms drew a blank.
