On the drive home yesterday afternoon, I saw my first group of 8 DC
CORMORANTS headed west up the Potomac just west of Roosevelt Island. The
day continued to be good at home, while working in the garden I had
about 5 minutes of great views of a female NORTHERN HARRIER as she
skimmed along our property and the field behind us. As I was packing it
in for the day, I was surprised by a yard first BELTED KINGFISHER as it
chattered from the wire across the street before doing a lap of the
front yard. The final treat of the day was to finally get my timing
right and listen to the WOODCOCK serenade at 7:45. Now if someone would
just finish turning the garden, I'd be set!
