Gary,
This struck me as very humorous, hearing the sound of schoolchildren
playing in the distance. For the longest time while birding at Blue Mash in spring
on weekends, this time of year, I would hear what I swore were Tundra Swans
somewhere in the sky, whooping. It was only after this happened more than once
without my seeing any swans that I realized it was indeed the sound of
children. There is a huge soccerplex within "shouting distance" of Blue Mash, and
in the quiet early hours on Saturdays their shouts would carry all the way to
Blue Mash!
Nice sighting!
