Having breakfast on the deck this morning produced my first Osprey for the Waldorf yard year list. A male flew over around 10 AM.
I also got fooled again by a singing bird. I made the assumption that trill, slow and flat was a Pine Warbler. The song was coming from a Pine Tree. In about five minutes I found the Chipping Sparrow doing a very slow song for that species. The lesson - be careful with your birding by sound identifications unless you are doing a fund raising birdathon.
One other species of note were five Ring-billed Gulls.
