Dear Ospreyers,

On Saturday 31 March the Audubon monthly birdwalk at Patterson Park, Baltimore turned up a small selection of migrants with one unexpectedly early species, a Caspian Tern, flying around the pond in the company of several Ring-billed Gulls. A look at the Yellow Book shows this may equal the earliest state record. The tern is still there this morning (2 April) as was a females Merlin at the pond (not seen on Saturday). The list of more interesting species from saturday is below:

Patterson Park: 31 March; 8:00-9:30am
American Kestrel	1
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker	3
Northern Flicker	5
Downy Woodpecker	1
Ruby-crowned Kinglet	2
Golden-crowned Kinglet	3
Brown Creeper	1
Song Sparrow	5
Chipping Sparrow	5
Tree Swallow	5
Dark-eyed Junco	5
Eastern Phoebe	3
Lesser Scaup	2
American Coot	1
Caspian Tern	1

Good birding,

Dave
