I had to go down to Andrew AFB this morning to let an evil vampire nurse
draw about two gallons of blood out of my arm. I thought I would make the
best of it and see what birds I could find.

On the perimeter road, I spotted Eastern Meadowlarks, Canada Geese, two
F-16s, Mockingbirds, Grackles, Starlings blah blah blah...wonderful birds etc.

However, at Freedom Park, near the golf course on one end of the runway I
spotted six Pied-billed Grebes, two American Coot, and a pair of (Lesser?)
Scaup. These were my first Pied-billed Grebes and Scaup- I am not 100% on
the breed of the scaup, but I called it "lesser" since it was on a
freshwater pond. meh. I got a pretty junky picture of all three in frame if
anyone would like to clarify.

I also spotted a muskrat that I wanted to catch, tape a beak on, throw in
the air and call a Golden Eagle, alas...it was too fast.

Happy Birding!
