What a difference a day makes! On a relative balmy and wind-free
afternoon today, a visit to Pickering Creek wetlands yielded the following:

    Pied-billed Grebe 2
    American Coot 4
    Blue-winged Teal 2
    Green-winged Teal 12+
    Gadwall 2
Wood Duck 1 (Male - a real beauty)
     Northern Shoveler 20+
     Black Duck 5
     Mallard 6
     Lesser Scaup 1
BONAPARTE'S GULL 1 (quite vocal, or I would have missed it)
    PURPLE MARTIN 6 (3 Pair)
Tree Swallows 50+ in a single tree and another 40
flying around
Red-tailed Hawk 4 circling together in the air
