Yesterday, Apr 7th, a Snowy Egret stopped on the shore in front of our
place on Leeds Creek. It was back today and stood for awhile on one of the
pilings of our pier. Barn Swallows and Tree Swallows also chose to snuggle
together on the piling tops during the period yesterday when most other
spots were covered with snow. Up to 10 Tree Swallows simultaneously used a
single piling, and on another piling there were two of each swallow species.
In the cold this morning some 42 White-throated Sparrows swarmed in to
feast on the seed that I scattered beside the driveway. A dozen Blue Jays
and over a dozen Cardinals also congregated there.
Two days ago a Winter Wren showed up behind my garden area.
