First, I want to say, I have really enjoyed finding this message board and
reading all the posts. They are very interesting and helpful to novice birders.

I finally took a day off from work today and my husband Tom and I went to
Lake Roland and birded from 11:30 AM to 3:30PM. What a fun, pleasant,
relaxing day. This what we observed:

Chickadee
Robin
Cardinal
White Breasted Nuthatch
Golden Crowned Kinglet
Ruby Crowned Kinglet
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Bluebird
Yellow-rumped warbler
Northern Mockingbird
Chipping Sparrow
Palm Warbler
Brown-headed cowbird
Black-crowned Night Heron
American Crow
Fish Crow
Swallows (unable to identify)
Belted Kingfisher
Canada Goose
Hairy Woodpecker
Blue-gray gnatcatcher
Tufted titmouse
Towhee
Downy Woodpecker
Turkey vultures
Unidentified large shorebird (black with long bill that was light in color and
orange at base of bill, throat)
Unidentified bird (so cute! peeking out of hollow tree trunks near floor of
woods, brown with a white face and chest, tiny, beautiful patterning in brown
wing and tail feathers, foraging on the forest floor in the leaves)

We are so happy that we are starting to be able to identify more birds.
Thanks for listening!
