This morning as I was filling the feeders at 6:30, a group of 8 Caspian Terns
flew from the river real low and passed right over the house, a beautiful view.
Then after work this evening, I stopped at Mt. Calvert to look over the river
for waders but found none. However, I saw a nice group of 5 yellow palm
warblers and two pine warblers, actively feeding both on the ground and in
the trees. They gave exceptionally nice views, wish I had a camera.
Unfortunately I did not get a look at the gulls, as the Park came by to close
up at 6.

From home I saw a large group of distant ducks on the open water, and when
I scoped them it turned out to be 65 Red-breasted mergansers! All but one
were females. This may be the most I've ever seen here, I don't recall. There
were also 5 Am. widgeon with them. It has been a long while now since there
were any duck flocks here. The swallow flocks are fun to watch too; there
are many but all I've seen are tree and barn so far. I wonder what the
weekend's weather will bring!

Cheers-
