Just took an evening walk around the lake (Aspen Run, N Carroll County) and
got this April's 1st Osprey. We get several every April, but I've been
working and probably missed the first dozen of them.
Also had a Rumpie, Belted Kingfisher, Hermit Thrush, and a pair of those
big noisy woodpeckers that don't have a big white bill. I forget their name.
Also had a beaver slap his tail for me and some very noisy frogs - that
shut up as soon as I got near. Now I know why I'm a birder. They're more
cooperative. Particularly the big noisy woodpeckers.
And to continue the theme, 2 nights ago I had a big white bird buzz down
the lake. By the timne I found it in the scope it was a bit far, but it was
clearly a tern and I can only htink it was most likely a Caspian.
And Fred should post the web site where he stored his photos from the
Smith Island trip on here. He sent them to us trippers and there are some
nice ones in there. One shows about half the flock of Gannets. If we get a
minimum 30 people for that trip next year, I will personally guarantee
another Gannet Frenzy.
Or a big noisy woodpecker. Whichever comes first.
