Every turn of the head produced a new species today at Lake Artemesia. The
best of which were two American Pipits, one Black-crowned Night Heron, two
Savannah Sparrows, eleven Rusty Blackbirds, four Bonaparte's Gulls, one
Caspian Tern, and two Barred Owls (heard).

There was also plenty of DC Cormorants, fifteen in total, swimming in the
middle of the lake.

The pipits were feeding in the grassy area just past the bathrooms. Only 25
yards away was the Black-crowned Night Heron, sitting on a wooden post
peering into the water just in front of the grassy amphitheater.

I was unable to spot the Cliff Swallow that Elaine saw, nor did I see the
Spotted Sandpiper my brother saw yesterday.
