What a beautiful morning to be out! I saw my FOY northern parula and green heron at the National Arboretum. Other interesting birds were 3 pine warblers, one yellow rump, a yellow-bellied sapsucker, lots of singing brown thrashers and chippies, chimney swift, red shouldered hawks, blue gray gnatcatchers, and hermit thrushes wherever I stopped and looked on the forest floor (I counted at least a dozen, but there were more).

At Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, the way to the boardwalk and to the River Trail was blocked by high water (I didn't have boots), but there was one great egret in the ponds and I saw one palm warbler.
