Hello all.
I checked out Weinberg Park (in Pasadena) this evening for 2 hours and came
up with 7 species of warblers and a few other good migrants, including Wood
Thrush and Gray Catbird.
Totals:
Great Blue Heron: 1
Double-crested Cormorant: 40+ on 'White Rocks'
Canada Goose: 4 Two were on nests
Mallard: 10
Ruddy Duck: 48 Rock Creek
Osprey: 2
Red-tailed Hawk: 1 adult, local
Cooper's Hawk: 1 stooped and dove toward the meadow by the overlook
Sharp-shinned Hawk: 3 cruising due northwest
American Kestrel: 1
Ring-billed Gull: 2 flyovers
Herring Gull: 28 flyovers and patrolling Rock Creek
Great Black-backed Gull: 12 mostly in the vicinity of 'White Rocks'
American Crow: 5
Fish Crow: 1
Blue Jay: 200+ mostly stalled migrants
Red-bellied Woodpecker: 3
Downy Woodpecker: 3
Hairy Woodpecker: 1
Carolina Wren: 4
Carolina Chickadee: 6
Tufted Titmouse: 4
Ruby-crowned Kinglet: 2
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher: 6
Northern Rough-winged Swallow: 2
WOOD THRUSH: 1 seen just past trail entrance
GRAY CATBIRD: 3 calling intermittently
BLUE-HEADED VIREO: 1 heard and seen
YELLOW WARBLER: 2 seen with the Myrtles
NORTHERN PARULA: 1 calling over trail entrance
Pine Warbler: 2
BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER: 1 male with the Myrtles
BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER: 1 male
Myrtle Warbler: 8 in a loose flock
COMMON YELLOWTHROAT: 1 across from trail entrance
Eastern Towhee: 4
White-throated Sparrow: 12 still quite a few in the undergrowth
Northern Cardinal: 14
Red-winged Blackbird: 15
Common Grackle: 6
Brown-headed Cowbird: 1 flyover
House Finch: 2
American Goldfinch: 14 mostly flyovers
