Hello all.
Kevin Graff accompanied me on a survey of Swan Creek/Cox Creek Dredged
Material Facility in northern Anne Arundel County. We had excellent numbers
and excellent bird diversity, including 3 Vireo species, 6 shorebird species along
with a lot of other seasonal birds including Gray Catbird, Yellow Warbler and
Common Yellowthroat...and lots of migrating Blue Jays!

RED-THROATED LOON: 1 Patapsco River
Common Loon: 2 flyover
Double-crested Cormorant: 60 on and around the Patapsco
Great Blue Heron: 5
GREAT EGRET: 1 non-mitigated wetland
SNOWY EGRET: 2 mitigated wetland
LITTLE BLUE HERON: 4 both major wetland areas
Mute Swan: 2
Canada Goose: 20
Mallard: 3
Scaup sp.: 4 on the hazy Patapsco
Ruddy Duck: 41 Patapsco River
Turkey Vulture: 4
Osprey: 2 Nest building looks finished
Red-tailed Hawk: 1 presumably a local bird
Cooper's Hawk: 1
American Coot: 14 scattered around the non-mitigated wetland
Kildeer: 4

Blue Jay: 525+ most were migrants getting hung up at the Patapsco shore

Blue-gray Gnatcatcher: 8
