A friend told me of another Yellow-crowned Night Heron nest along Sligo
Creek, bringing the total between Colesville Road and New Hampshire Avenue
to four. To find this latest nest, from Colesville Road, head downstream
along Sligo Creek Parkway. The first road on the left is Worth Avenue - the
creek is on the right. About two tenths of a mile further, a pedestrian
bridge crosses the creek. The nest is about 50-75 feet downstream from this
bridge. There is a parking lot on the right not far beyond the bridge and
nest.  Of the four nests along the creek, this is the lowest. I would guess
it's no more than 15 feet over the creek. This evening, a bird was on the
nest.
