The stream adjacent to the parking lot for the Mt. Washington Starbucks -
Whole Foods complex is again hosting some good birds. Early this morning
there were three YELLOW-CROWNED and one immature BLACK-CROWNED Night
Herons and this afternoon there was a beautiful mature Black-crowned posing
in various trees and snags just across the stream.
The WARBLING VIREO and the BALTIMORE ORIOLE are back, and a BLACKPOLL
is spending a few days.
Note: this is not a lovely natural area. The stream has been constrained within
gabions, and there is a certain amount of debris and ivy. However, the birds
don't seem to care, and we appreciate the coffee on the way to Lake Roland.
