Hi All,
I'm very new to this, in fact this is my first post, so I hope that
I do it correctly!
After reading all of the postings about the birds in the MD area
I decided to put the hummingbird feeder out this morning!
Sure enough! Ruby-throated hummingbird on it within a half
hour! Thank You to all that mentioned them in the area! I thought
it might be too early for them.
We had two new birds added to our "life list".
Cedar Waxwings, a flock of about a dozen in our back yard
eating on the new buds of the Oak tree. Was able to take some
great pictures!
Rose-breasted Grosbeak came to the feeder. This is the first year I have
noticed this bird in our back yard. Just beautiful. Great shots of him also!
The posting emails have gotten me so excited about going out
to bird watch. I took my son and we went to Bear Branch Nature
Center in Westminster to look and take pictures. I have started to
get interested in taking the photos and finding them by their songs!
I find it interesting that everyone knows the songs of the birds. That
is something that I need to learn! Any good ideas of educating ourselves
on their songs? We have some of the songs down, but not enough!

On our nature center walk we spotted:
over a dozen Red Winged Blackbirds
6- Canada Goose
2- Cardinal - male and female
3- American Robin
possibly a Northern Baltimore Oriole
also a possible Yellow Warbler
1- Downy Woodpecker
3- Carolina Chickadee
7 - Tree Swallow
1 - Great Blue Heron fly-by
2- Mourning Doves
1- Red-tailed hawk
6- Turkey Vultures
2 - Mocking Birds

Thanks for getting us even more excited about our birding!
