Hi Everyone,

I birded Southern MD Tuesday Afternoon and Wednesday. Here are the highlights.

Charles County - 5/1 with Jim Green

Breezy Point WWTP - Pair of Blue-winged Teal, single Bonie, RB Merganser, both scaup.

St. Mary's County - 5/2

Point Lookout - At Fort Lincoln, I had a nice array of warblers, Yellow, Prairie, BTB, Parula, Magnolia, Pine, B & W, Redstarts, Ovenbird, N. Waterthrush, C. Yellowthroats and Chats. Vireos present were Yellow-throated, White-eyed and Red-eyed. Both orioles were seen as well as 30-40 WT Sparrows and 10-20 Swamp Sparrows. Other birds seen were several Scarlet Tanagers, House Wrens and YB Cuckoos.

At other stops in the county I found a Western Palm Warbler, Blue-winged, Hooded and Yellow-throated Warblers. No Myrtle warblers at any of the locations!

Calvert County - 5/2 with Jim Green

North Beach wetlands produced a Tri-colored Heron and 4 SP Plovers. Caspian, Royal and Fosters Terns were seen over the Bay.

AA County - 5/2 with Jim Green

Jug Bay - Lots of Myrtle Warblers, but also seen were Parula, B & W (Jim only), Bay-breasted Warbler (Dave only). Other birds seen were Summer Tanager and Rose-breasted Grosbeak.

Good Birding,

Dave Powell
