I was in the field most of yesterday installing
plywood baffles to a sluice in a marsh drainage that
feeds into Muddy Creek. One of the first birds to
greet us when we got into the marsh was a MARSH WREN.
Soon after it was joined by several others. A couple
of times a SORA gave a couple of bursts and a SEASIDE
SPARROW sang sporadically for about an hour.

Other birds in the SERC area:
(I'm sure I undercounted as it's difficult to wield a
sledge hammer and take notes at the same time ;)

Black Vulture - 8 on a deer carcass
TV - 2
Osprey - 2
Great Crested Flycatcher - 1
Black-billed Cuckoo - 1
Mourning Dove - 2
Red-bellied WP - 2
Red-eyed Vireo - 2
Am. Crow - 4
Titmouse - 1
Carolina Wren - 1
Wood Thrush - 2
Catbird - 2
N. Parula - 2
Yellow-throated Warbler - 3 (one carrying nesting
material)
Black-throated Blue - 1
Black-throated Green - 2
Ovenbird - 2
Common Yellowthroat - 3
Scarlet Tanager - 2
Chipping Sparrow -2
Cowbird - 2
Red-winged Blackbird - many
Orchard Oriole - 1
Cardinal - 2
House Finch - 2

We're going back out to finish plywood installation
soon. Hopefully it will be equally birdy!
