I live near Piney Branch and Sligo Creek Parkway, and often walk in the area
between there and Maple. I have seen four active nests this spring in that
stretch. There is the pair just upstream from the bridge that is upstream from
the tennis court--I watched them one day in April taking twigs from the old
nest there to build a new one, but two days ago, they were on the old one
again--maybe they changed their minds. Or maybe the old nest gives them a
better view of the playground--I think this pair in particular must like to people
watch.

Going downstream and crossing Piney Branch, at the first foot bridge, there is
a nest easily seen from the bridge looking out to the left on a branch with a
distinctive curve--don't know how visible it is from the street, tho if it's not
over the street, it's nearly so.

Going further downstream, you pass a sign saying "private road" (at 8215, I
think) and at the large bend just past that, there are TWO nests, over the
road. I don't know of more between there and Maple.

Really, I think all these birds like to people-watch, judging from these
locations; none of them are over the areas away from human activities, and
they could be if they chose; there are plenty of spots just as near the creek,
but not so near the cars and joggers!
