Greetings,

I decided to return to the Howard County Middle Patuxent Environmental Area for a few days in a row following the Howard County Bird Club trip, Saturday 4/28, lead by Stan Arnold. (MPEA is in the Maryland Delorme Atlas on pg 57, C5)

  Monday 4/30/07, 7 am – 11 am, prtly cloudy, 52 – 65 degrees

  Birds of note for me:

  Northern Harrier
  Yellow-throated Vireo
  Rose-breasted Grosbeak
  Black-throated Blue Warbler
  American Redstart

  Tuesday 5/01/07, 7 am -12 noon, sunny, 54 – 70 degrees

  Yellow-billed Cuckoo (heard)
  Black-billed Cuckoo*
  Hairy Woodpecker
  Yellow-throated Vireo (heard)
Blue-winged Warbler (meadow off Trotter Rd parking)
  Black-throated Blue Warbler
  Black-throated Green Warbler
  Yellow-throated Warbler (heard)
  Black-and-white Warbler
  Scarlet Tanager
  Baltimore Oriole (heard)

*The Black-billed Cuckoo found Saturday by Ralph Cullison remains in the same place on the North side of the meadow, about half way down, off of the South Wind Circle parking area. It flew once across to the South side where it vocalized softly, but soon flew back and snacked on some tasty tent caterpillars.
