Thanks for the many responses to my question about toads/frogs in Bluebird
boxes. Very interesting...

Yesterday (Friday) I made the mistake of attempting a "quick" look at MPEA
before work. Was immediately bombarded by groups of Indigo Buntings chasing
each other around and a great "cooking contest" between a couple of Barred
Owls. Heard vocabulary I've only heard in recordings before. Couldn't stay
to track down all the activity in the trees but did get Yellowthroats,
Blue-Winged, and Magnolia and heard Black-throated Blues and others I
couldn't identify. Heard quite a few Scarlet Tanagers but didn't see them.
Three Pileated Woodpeckers and Towhees everywhere. One Veery sang briefly.
Lots of Wood Thrushes and a few Ovenbirds singing. Lots of White and
Red-eyed Verios.

Heard another Barred Owl while drifting off to sleep in Clary's Forest and
awakened to Yellow Billed Cuckoo and lots of Warbler sounds. Black-Throated
Blues were in the trees around the parking lot and along the path. Several
Veerys along the path and in trees on lawns. Yellowthroats, Magnolias and
Redstarts. Nice look at a Scarlet Tanager.
