I birded the Avalon and Orange Grove areas of the park
by bike this morning with a friend and experienced one
of my best days ever for this section of the park.
Highlights included good looks at:

Scarlet tanagers (6+)
Baltimore orioles (saw a few, heard dozens)
Orchard oriole
Gray-cheeked thrush
Ruby-throated hummingbird

9 confirmed warbler species, all common (missed the
worm-eating warbler today).

Heard many Blackpols, one Veery and one Yellow-billed
cuckoo, but they stayed out of view.

Black and White warblers seemed strangely absent and
Indigo bunting were relatively few in number for mid-May.
