Below are some highlights from near Fort Smallwood today:
 
Yard birds over morning coffee:
 
Least Tern--1 flyby
Common Nighthawk--flew right through the yard at 7:45 a.m.!
American Redstart--1
Ovenbird--1
Common Yellowthroat--2
Blackpoll Warbler--2
 
Kite watch with Hans Holbrook from White's Pond access:
 
Great Egret--1
Little Blue Heron--1 (I ran back to my yard to tick it on my yard list--birders are weird)
Cattle Egret--2
Black and Turkey Vultures--about 10 each
Osprey--2
Bald Eagle--2
Sharp-shinned Hawk--1
Cooper's Hawk--1
Red-shouldered Hawk--4+
Red-tailed Hawk--1
Spotted Sandpiper--1
Least Tern--2
Eastern Kingbird--resident pair
Barn Swallows, Purple Martins--several
Yellow Warbler--1
Northern Water Snake--1
