This morning, May 17, I was engaged in a continuing search for
breeding territories of Louisiana Waterthrushes and Prothonotary
Warblers, in connection with an IBA-Bird Blitz project under the
auspices of Audubon Maryland-DC.

While walking along the trail on the east side of Seneca Creek, about
1/4 mile north of River Rd. in Seneca, Montgomery County, I got great
views of a migrating Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, and listened as it
called repeatedly about 20 feet away from me. A memorable migration
moment! I hadn't seen one that close since my wife and I were in
Minnesota in summer 2000.
