Barred Owls, Rockville, 4/27

Yes, this post is about 3 weeks late, but I thought someone might be
interested anyway.  I had two lovely Barred Owls flying briefly along the
stream behind my house at dusk back on April 27.  The other birds in the
yard (it sounded like mostly Cardinals) were making a huge ruckus over them,
so they never landed anywhere for very long.  They were around for between 5
and 10 minutes before they flew farther down the stream and I couldn't see
them anymore.

The stream behind my house runs parallel to Wooton Parkway, right down the
hill from it, near where Clydes and the golf course are.  I feel like you
could have seen the owls from a car if you were on the parkway.  It was
surprising to see them so close to a busy road and a bunch of houses.  Are
they usually found in such populated places?  They were a lifer for me so it
was very exciting.
