Hello,
The Oregon Ridge Bluebird Recovery Program is hosting a guided tour of
selected nestboxes at Oregon Ridge Park. The date is Sunday, June 3. The
time: 10:00 a.m. I plan to reserve Sunday afternoon in case it rains
Sunday morning. The reason I've chosen this weekend is that it looks as
though we'll have a lot of nestlings which are not yet ready to fledge --
and not so close to fledging that we'll be unable to open the boxes for fear
that they will fledge prematurely. It's a good chance to learn more about
helping bluebirds and Tree Swallows reproduce, and a great chance to see
baby birds up close.
Meet at the ballfields parking lot at 10. From I-83 take Shawan Rd west.
Go past the intersection of Cuba Rd/Beaver Dam Rd and turn right into the
parking lot, just before Shawan Downs (who have taken their signs down but
it's a huge farm property on the right).
Email RSVP by noon Thurs, May 31. Space is limited (due to not wanting to
keep the boxes open too long) and is by reservation only. You are welcome
to bring as many people as you'd like, but just let me know how many ASAP,
at the latest by Thursday noon.
Please provide a phone number where I can get you Sunday morning in case of
problem -- most likely that would be rain. My cell phone number is
410-245-5182.
Paul Kilduff
