Fran and I had an old friend of hers visiting from New York this
weekend and we decided to ride around the Wildlife Drive at
Blackwater to see what we could find. We managed three life birds
for our visitor: American White Pelican (8), Brown-headed Nuthatch
(3, well seen), and Orchard Oriole (3--2 adults and one first year
male).

We had a total of 53 species for the morning. The pelicans were NOT
visible from the main Wildlife Drive but rather from the deadend
road past the parking lot for the Marsh Trail, where the old
observation tower used to be available.

Best,
Norm
