Hi Jim --

I believe it is the Bent Life History series that has good descriptions of
3 different grasshopper songs/calls and associates them with the stage of
nesting. This was useful during the earlier Atlas efforts and I first
became aware of these different 'songs' during the Montgomery Atlas in the
1970s.

Cheers,
Kathy

[MDOSPREY] Song of the Grasshopper Sparrow

I was listening to a Grasshopper Sparrow last evening. It did its
'tic-tic
tzeeee' several times and then after one repetition it broke into a bright

bubbly song that was a bit prolonged. I have heard this once or twice
before. Is this common for the Grasshooper sparrow?
