On the way to the College Park Farmer's Market this morning I was
surprised to see a single female Common Merganser in the Northeast Branch.
It was a bit downstream of me as I watched it from under the Paint Branch
Parkway bridge.
On the way home I stopped by Lake Artemesia and looked briefly for the
Green Heron fledglings but didn't see them. I did watch some Purple Martin
nestlings poking their heads out of one of the gourds for a bit before I was
chased off by an adult male.
