In addition to Sean's Southern Cecil field birds, I had at least five
Grasshopper Sparrows on Elk River Landing Road, which is half way down the
Elk Neck Penninsula (going towards Turkey Point). These are my first
"peninsular" Grasshopper Sparrows for this area...
Other birds of note in the same area included many Eastern Meadowlarks,
Indigo Buntings, White-eyed Vireos on territory, and Prairie Warblers (2)
singing as well. There were also A few Blue-gray Gnatcatchers fluttering
about. A stunning male Northern Parula made a nice showing as well...
Good birds and happy FOURTH!!!
