I spotted the 1st summer Black-crowned Night Heron this morning at
Schoolhouse Pond. As before, it was along the left hand side of the pond
(when looking from Governor Oden Bowie Drive). It was roosting within a
scrub willow along the edge of the pond and I probably would have missed it
were it not for the "white wash" beneath its perch. It has been perched in
this vicinity when I spotted it several times two weeks ago. It is in the area
just before you reach the townhouse offices.
