I wasn't going to post anything about this, but on Saturday, 7/14, while
standing in a parking lot in Catonsville near the city line, I had a small
accipiter fly over at treetop level that I identified as an adult Sharp-shinned
Hawk. ID was based on the small size, quick flapping style and the sharply
squared, actually somewhat notched tail. The size and wingbeats are a bit
subjective but the tail structure seemed pretty clear cut, unless there's some
molting going on with the retrices that I'm not aware of. I also thought it a
possible migrant, since the bird was flying directly N to S.
