Hi all,
My wife and I were out driving the local back roads on Saturday morning
(July 21) on our roundabout way to Mt. Airy, and we were driving along a very
beautiful stretch of Sam's Creek Rd.(which runs between Frederick and Carroll
Counties NW of Rt. 27. Just as we came along side of the creek and were in a
low area of what looked like old cow pastures an adult RED HEADED WOODPECKER
flew across in front of the car. This was just a bit south of Doctor Stitely
Rd.
Since I am new to the county I thought I would report this, as I'm not sure
if this is a known location for RHWOs or not. It is an absolutely beautiful
drive, like going back in time; many really old well-kept farmhouses and
country mansions with gorgeous properties. Who knew?
