I took a short trip to the Susquehanna River SP today- totally skipping out
on the yard sale duties this morning (ok...I did the heavy lifting, then
bolted out the door). All these birds were significant to me because I
haven't set foot in Harford County since I started scribbling in my Yellow
Book.

The Common Mergansers were a treat, as were the Heron follies at the dam.
One of the Great Blue Herons appeared to be injured. It held it's right wing
slightly akimbo as it navigated the rip rap adjacent to the Conowingo Dam
visitor's parking lot. It managed to snatch a Smallmouth Bass, and after a
short bit of shenanigans with a fellow GBHE, flapped off to a different
spot. It's eating, it's flying, it's fighting, hopefully it'll live.

I got a little dehydrated and didn't pay very close attention to the
songbirds as I should have. Ha..guess I'll have to go back. It's nice up there.
