Birding on Elliott Island Road/Fishing Creek

Birding along Elliott Island Road   Sunday, August 12; 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.


Brown headed nuthatch (1)
American Goldfinch (many along route)
Pine Warbler (2)
Eastern Bluebird (4 juveniles)
Hairy woodpecker (1)
Osprey (4 - one sitting in a tree holding a nice sized fish)
Indigo Bunting (heard)
Sedge Wren (heard on both sides of the road)
Least Bittern (2 good but brief views)
Bald Eagle (2 adults, one juvenile)
Laughing gull (many)
Herring gull (many)
Ring-billed gull (1)
Great Blue Heron (3)
Great Egret (5)
Killdeer(2)
Semipalmated plover (7)
Forster's Tern (1)
Royal Tern (2)
Eastern Kingbird (4)
Barn swallow (9)
Purple Martin (2)
Mourning Dove (2)
Baltimore Oriole (1 - immature male)

Also saw a few diamondback terrapins and lots of jellyfish.

We heard a Great Crested Flycatcher in Vienna on the way back to Salisbury.


Wish we'd seen that Golden Eagle!
