About 3 days ago, I heard a Baltimore Oriole do some calling in the yard.
Oriole's (Orchard and Baltimore) had nested in the yard, but after nesting
they appear to gradually disappear to other haunts. Now one has returned,
and while not in full song, is doing what I would say is more of a
repetitive call. I have seen it and it is a mature male.
Is anyone familiar with what Baltimore Orioles do after raising their young?
Do they disperse and wonder about or do they just go quiet and stay near
their nesting area? I have not seen one in my yard for several weeks until
this one showed up.
I did a search about Oriole Migration and learned that they start in late
August (one source said mid July), so this one could be an early bird
heading south or just one roaming about.
Also, I heard a bird giving a really strange sqwaking yesterday morning but
could not find it for an ID. Never heard one like it ... maybe a lost
parrot???
