Hi Jim, and all,

I had a similar experience late last week. As I was sitting out back on the
deck I noticed a yellow bird in the corner garden area. At first I thought it
was a juvie goldfinch, and didn't pay too much attention. Then it flew off
to the trees on the perimeter of the yard and I watched it with my binoculars,
and thought it could be a Yellow Warbler. After a bit it returned to the
yard, feeding on the ground in the mulch and up in a small dogwood tree. I
called my daughter outside and we watched it up close for quite a while. It was a
young Yellow Warbler in pristine plumage; just gorgeous.

There was also a second one present in my neighbors backyard which we saw at
a distance and heard singing (late) the same evening. This was yard bird
number 50 for us!

We also have a late nesting pair of E. Bluebirds in one of my 3 boxes. Their
4 young seem to have hatched within the past 48 hours. And we must have 8-12
hummingbirds visiting the feeders and flowers in the yard. Lots of action
around the feeders, which I have to fill every couple of days now.

Enjoy late summer,
