I was at the sod farm on John Brown Road yesterday from about
11:40 to 12:20. I found the Buff-breasted Sandpiper (only one)
right away, in the previously-reported location - in the brown
grass across from the brick house, very near the road. I also got
a brief look at a bird that I am 95% certain was a Baird's Sandpiper.
It was noticeably larger than the 3 Least Sandpipers that it was
foraging with, elongated in shape, darker above and buff-brown
across the breast, with a distinct pale supercilium. This little flock
was also feeding quite near the road but was startled and flew when
a couple of workers on an ATV passed by on the gravel road. After
that, I was unable to relocate the Baird's. Also present were a
Horned Lark and several Killdeer.
