Hi Everyone,

I was again lured to the Eastern Shore yesterday in pursuit of the many great migrants that are moving through the state. I joined Jim Stasz, Matt Hafner, Jim Brighton, Tom Feild, Dave Powell, and John Hubbell just after dawn at the turf farms on Waller Rd. x Taylor Rd., northwest of Salisbury.

  Waller x Taylor, Wicomico Co.:

  Northern Bobwhite--heard
  Killdeer--20
  AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER--1
  Lesser Yellowlegs--1
  Solitary Sandpiper--1
  Semipalmated Sandpiper--1
  Least Sandpiper--several
  WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER--1
  Pectoral Sandpiper--1+
  Horned Lark--30
  Bobolinks--5
  Red Fox--4

Cherry Walk Rd. x Halloway Rd., Wicomico Co.:

  YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER--1 (photos)
  White-eyed Vireo--1
  Pine Warbler--1-2
  American Redstart--1

Cherry Walk Rd. x Quantico Rd., Wicomico Co.:
  (cutover woods)

  Purple Martin--100+
  White-eyed Vireo--2
  Prairie Warbler--3
  Prothotary Warbler--1 (very obvious migrant)

  Wetipquin Marsh, Wicomico Co.:

  Brown-headed Nuthatch--1
  Marsh Wren--1
  Bobolink--2
Just north of Wetipquin: Worm-eating Warbler (2), Black-and-white Warbler, Summer Tanager, BG Gnatcatcher

  Tyaskin, Wicomico Co.:

  Royal Tern--2 adult, 1 juvenile

  Cedar Hill Marina, Wicomico Co.:

  Laughing Gull--200
  Royal Tern--80, including several juveniles

  Roaring Point, Wicomico Co.:

  Brown Pelican--1 on pound nets
  Snowy Egret--1
  SANDERLING--2
  * Jim Stasz spotted these flying away in the distance, and only Dave Powell and I got on them. There was a lack of landmarks behind them to get anyone else on them, which was disappointing.
  Royal Tern--10

Behind Goose Creek Exxon on Rte. 50, where we broke into three groups, Wicomico Co.:

  Fine-lined Emerald--1
  Hayhurst's Scallopwing--1

Jim Brighton, Tom Feild, and I continued to the Rte. 335 bridge at Blackwater, Dorchester Co.:

  TUNDRA SWAN--1
  AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN--8
  BLACK TERN--1

We drove the Blackwater wildlife drive and encountered another Black Tern, perhaps the same bird, on one of the stakes out on the marsh.

  Tanyard Marsh, Caroline Co.:

  American Black Duck--4
  Common Moorhen--1
